Project Overview
Lyra is our own open-source content platform, built on Orchard Core and released under the MIT licence. We built Lyra for teams that need more control than a website builder gives them, without the overhead of maintaining a separate CMS installation for every site.
Multi-tenant from the start
A single deployment hosts many independent sites. Each tenant gets its own database, content, theme and enabled modules. Tenants are provisioned from the platform admin, or self-service through a public signup form that returns a working site in one request.
Modules that bring their own admin
Installing a module can add an entire admin section without touching core code. The bundled commerce module is the reference case: it introduces a product content type, its own Products screen with price and stock at a glance, and a storefront widget.
AI-assisted page building
Describe a page in plain language and Lyra proposes a layout using only the widgets that tenant actually has installed, created as an editable draft for review before publishing. The AI backend is pluggable — a zero-config mock provider for local work, or a hosted model — so the platform is never tied to one vendor.
Simple where it counts
Public pages are server-rendered with no separate front-end build, which keeps them fast and easy to host. The complexity sits in the admin, where it belongs. The whole thing runs locally with a single Docker Compose command.
